Today we start again. The "beginning." Even if our real beginning was way back in July. The first official game is today. We have been playing pre-season games. Violent, pre-season games. They are done and over and today starts anew! So it is time to rock.... Let's hope that this season gets off to a good start with the games that count!! Because starting the season this way...kinda sucks!!!

LAST..
Tonight I dared to be kinda sad that we hit our last football practice of the season. I was a little sad that Jax was so sick that he missed practice on Wednesday due to a lil vomitinatious~ness. Yeah, I made the word up. Move on.
Well, instead of being all wishy washy and watching all the boys in awe... they pissed me off in a huge way. I was not paying attention to the pre-practice festivities that were going on. Coach was in a meeting and our boys were tossing the ball around. I heard another Dad yell in his most feminine voice, "Aww come on boys..." which was not loud enough for Tommy to hear on the other side of my chair.
I looked up and watched the coaches sons running around pulling down the shorts of all the boys on the team. Normally this would not happen in full gear, but tonight was offense night so we practiced in shorts and shirts with helmets.
I turned to Dad and said, "I will fix this and they will listen to me!"
Off I trotted to the center of the field and yelled, "What in the hell are you doing? Are you freakin kidding me? You can knock this crap off and act your age or I will go and get Joe and I can guarantee you that you will run a minimum of 20 laps around this park. (Discovery park is pretty grande to run around that many times) Got it?
I thought one might have piddled a little in his pants. Coaches daughter bolted for the meeting to tell him what happened and all the boys abruptly about faced for their parents who didn't dare open their mouths to utter a sound.
I smiled and winked at Jax (because let's face it, we all know he is not the kid that would pull someones shorts down).
Practice somehow ran very smoothly and no one said a thing to me. Jax informed me that all the boys asked if they thought I would tell coach and they said I scare them. That seems to be the consenses with a lot of people lately. Still unsure why so I may have to research this one......
Works for me! I tell you what, my kid would have had his ass handed to him had he been the one pulling that crap on the field.........

PUMMELING

it has only made him stronger, more resilient and more determined to be the best there ever was........
Jax starts tackle football tomorrow and I think I am already hyperventilating. The thought of what could happen has me in fear mode. I know what could happen. I took some pretty hard hits playing softball (a broken eye socket was probably the worst it ever got and I know that is nothing compared to what could happen) so I am just hoping that Jax is going to listen and practice exactly like his coaches tell him.
Nothing like waiting until the midnight hour..... I signed Jax up on Saturday and practice starts two days later.... NICE. He is amped beyond words. We went and bought his new cleats. He picked out his Under Armour football gloves and is beaming. If I would let him, he would be outside all night practicing. His intention is to be the quarterback. He is the go to kid at school for football plays so I am hoping that, what I think I see as his Mom, is really the RAW talent that many parents keep telling me has. I don't want to be that parent that is blind to their child's inability to play and forces them into it anyway.
Jax has the drive right now. He definitely is large enough to hold his own and since he is going to play by weight... well, the possibility exists that he could be playing with high school boys.
We shall see how this all goes. He starts out with 4-5 practices a week. Bootcamp style. I love this. I will get to get my second workout of the day in during his practice time and Binky and Justice will get to play until they fall over from exhaustion.
Bring on the pummeling!
