Lucky Girl......

I am a lucky girl.

I know this. I just tend to forget it some days, err, most days.

I have one thing that many a girls go gaga over. I guess I am so used to it that I don't even pay attention to it, anymore. It needs some serious TLC. It makes it hard to treat it nice when I can't go in there during the day. That, and for the past 4 months it has been the dumping ground for all things Christmas and stuff and more stuff. AGGGGHHHHHH!

You see, there were compromises when we bought our house. Pretty much like any other couple. We opted out of a room that would have gone above Tommy's one car garage. He wanted it badly. It was something like $18,000.00 and we couldn't swing it without giving up a lot that we just were not ready to give up. That left me the delicious 300 or so square feet of closet. Yep, closet, and it is bigger than most peoples' bedrooms. My mom even asked me if she could move into it.

I have started decorating it with my favorite pink paint. Tommy drew the line at pink paint in all of his shoe cubbies. I can understand that. I mean, a girl has gotta give a little. And, after all, I gave him 3 entire shoe cubbies, I think that is fair. Lucky for me, Tommy lets me do whatever I want, most of the time. He is pretty easy and so non-demanding about most things, except where too much pink paint is concerned. I personally think that there is no such thing as too much pink, but I do so love black paint too, so easy compromise!!!

So, my closet, she is a beauty. Until lately, I think I took her for granted. I mean, she really is an extension of our house and since she is so big, I figure I need to give her the TLC she is due! It has tons of nooks and cranny's and it is time for me to re-organize.. I wouldn't want Tommy to think that I don't know what a lucky girl I am!!

Plus, I figure, if I work on my closet, it will keep me from remodeling our kitchen, which is really on my mind, but so does not need to be done. After reading a friends blog about her kitchen redo I joked with Tommy that we could redo all our cabinets (there is a horror story behind this little joke with our first house.....) and it would be really inexpensive. It ain't happening any time soon though. So, on to finishing up the mess that is Jaxi's disaster and then to make my closet worthy of a spread in some fancy schmancy magazine.

I guess I am going to have download the awful before pictures of this ginormica of a mess. EEK! If it were not for the challenge I am doing, I wouldn't dare post my before photos. I am not embarrassed to have a cluttered area, I am sick about it. But, since this is my most major goal for the house, along with redecorating Jaxi's room.... well.... here they are......... in all their messy glory. It is what it is and it is going to get all prettied up!!!

....the kids are just itching for the new 42" LG plasma that was accidently forgotten during delivery of the new furniture. I think this may become a new hangout for the kids and friends to watch movies and have sleep overs!!!!

It has been a long time in coming with some very hard lessons learned along the way. Today, I finished the house I was decorating. I was pretty pleased with the gift I made for them. I tried my hand at oil painting this summer and gifted Sherry the final result of 12 canvases, for letting me do whatever I wanted to, no questions asked.

I even tried refacing the bathroom cabinets for them. I personally think everything came out really good. There was one bathroom that I was not allowed to decorate. I am sure that they are rethinking that one now. After all... it is red, white, and yellow. Not the prettiest of sights!!!

SO.....

What is this decorating girl to do when she finishes on heck of a major painting project, feels like she should be cleaning her house for a very busy upcoming weekend, but wants to keep painting... but is really running out of interior walls to paint in this little house we reside in...

Just wait and see...................................because Tommy and I are almost done with another major re-do project!

Note to self...

Do not allow hubby to watch HGTV with me. It bites me everytime. In the past two days I have made two mistakes.

1. I fell asleep watching HGTV ~ Tommy did not. He watched too many shows

2. I talked of an upcoming party, while watching HGTV redo's

Needless to say...I have been to Lowe's twice and Home Depot once in less than 24 hours. Tommy has hated the junk light fixtures our builder put in from day one.... and for the life of me, I can't even remember if they offered bathroom light fixture upgrades. If they did, we must not have liked them. Whatever the case. 3 down, 3 to go!

Then, while putting up the new bathroom light in our downstairs bath, Tommy made his mistake. He asked if I was planning on putting my favorite color on the fixture wall.

WHAT?????

Did he think it needed it?

It must, if he mentioned the paint..............

So, I only added the stripe! An entire wall would have been too much for that tiny room!

I love our new master bathroom lights. They have a purple glass accent that matches my custom made purple color on one of our walls.

I love it all baby! Annnnd... am already considering more changes with paint, frames and mosaic tiles!!!.....

I love painting. I REALLY love painting. Probably too much so. Poor Tommy never knows what color our house is going to be when he comes home. When he left for work yesterday our dining room looked like this......

And this is what he came home to!!!

All back to normal!!

..............at least for today!!!

HGTV????

HEY VAL...JUST FOR YOU... A SEMI-PANORAMIC VIEW ABOUT THE HOUSE MINUS THE KIDS' ROOMS!

1, 3, or 5

I have no idea why I started noticing this about me... or when it even happened.. but for some random reason... and I think I will blame HGTV for this, my house is decorated in 1, 3, or 5 groupings. SERIOUSLY. Obviously we have 1 main couch in our family room, but .. I have to have 3 ottomans behind it. 5 would look better but they were sold out at 3. I have vases grouped in 3's in my kitchen, and candles grouped in 5's all over the house. My pears on the table...5, my vases of sticks....3, flowers in vases....5, bamboo on the island...5 in the marbles.... the list seriously goes on and on throughout my entire house........ I am either OCD or a budding decorator.

PERSONALLY...IN MY LITTLE WORLD... I LIKE TO THINK I AM A BUDDING DECORATOR! JUST LET ME BELIEVE!!

UPDATING OUR LOFT!

SO I AM LAYING IN BED AT, OHHH SAY 2:30 IN THE MORNING SATURDAY... WATCHING HGTV, WAITING FOR TOMMY TO COME HOME...WHICH HE DID NOT UNTIL AFTER 6 BUT ANYWAYS...... I SEE EXACTLY WHAT I NEED TO DO TO COMPLETE THE LOOK OF OUR LOFT. ORANGE SILK DRAPES AGAINST MY BLUE WALL! I LOVE IT! ONTO THE NEXXXTTT........ THING I NEED TO COMPLETE NOW!

Fit for our PRINCESS BINKY...

Alas...her cat...SPIKE, the boy, sleeps here. He loves the color pink. He told me so! Brinkley sleeps in Jax's room. Finally all things PINK in Binky's room are done as done can be.. for now!!!! A few things left to do... but they can wait! After all, her bedroom is really just our guest room!
